We have arranged for a special railfan excursion to coincide with the Tracks & Tides Convention. Take a 3-hour, 38 km / 24 mile trip on the NB Southern Railway mainline round-trip from Saint John to Welsford.
Our trip will begin at Harbour Station in the centre of Saint John and climbs quickly to cross the churning waters of the Reversing Falls rapids as the mighty St. John River plunges into the Bay of Fundy
At Westfield Beach, we begin to follow the Nerepis River as it morphs from sprawling wetlands to a narrow gorge opening into the fertile valley at Welsford.
We will return to Saint John by the same route.
If you want to see some great photos of the NB Southern in action, we have a treat for you:

We then proceed past major rail-served industries such as the Irving Pulp & Paper mill, Irving Tissues and Moosehead Breweries before entering the main NB Southern yard at Dever Road. This is also the site of the Railway’s main servicing facilities.
We again meet up with the St John River at South Bay for a picturesque run through the riverside suburbs northwest of the city.
