The Saint John Society of Model Railroaders
present
TRACKS & TIDES 2010
a combined NER/MFMR event
Saint John, New Brunswick, has some of the highest tides in the world. It's situated where the mighty St. John River meets the Bay of Fundy. At high tide, the water in the harbour raises an average of 28 feet and forces the St. John River to reverse its direction.
The city is also home to two railways, the New Brunswick Southern Railway and CN Rail. Both lines serve this heavily industrialized city that is home to an oil refinery, pulp and paper mills, a potash terminal, flake board plant, and port facilities - including a container terminal.
The convention will be located in the Fort Howe Hotel and Convention Centre, with the train show next door at the Lord Beaverbrook Rink. The main line of the NB Southern Railway is only yards away and the view of the Saint John Harbour from the convention location is second to none.
Within a 2 block area of the show’s location you will find: McDonald’s, Subway, Tim Hortons, Pizza Delight, pub and steak house, liquor store, drug store, grocery store, department store and a bank. Free parking is available at all locations. The nearby Harbour Passage walkway will take you to the centre of the city, which offers a wide variety of dining and shopping choices.
